Hi, I have a WRT54G V3.1 s/n starts: CDF90E.... When I log into it, it states the firmware version as: v4.01.1

    I use µTorrent 1.5 http://www.utorrent.com/

I dont know much about routers but i believe my WRT has problems with P2P because of the number of connections generated, I've put off messing with it from the point of view that
something partially working is better than something not working! I didnt want to risk bricking it but i cant stand the poor performance any more!

Can anyone please suggest either an official or unofficial firmware that can cope with torrent software?

Thank you for you time :)

HyperWRT Thibor is what I use, and it fixes the problem very nicely. DD-WRT also comes highly recommended, though I have no personal experience with it. There are, of course, many others, but these two seem to be the most popular.

HyperWRT = closest to stock firmware, adds many new features, easiest learning curve.

DD-WRT = insane amounts of new features.

BOTH will fix BitTorrent problems inherent in the Linksys WRT54G/GS/GL series routers.
