I'm trying to get Acquisition (Mac OS X) to open it's ports (6346, 6881) at the router. I've set a unique port opening in the Mac OS X firewall, as instructed at http://www.acquisitionx.com/ports.php. I then log-in to the router ( and set UPnP to "enable."

Now I'm stuck. Acquisition will connect, find a query, but not allow me to download a file. It's preference...network is set to the same ports for TCP (6346) and DUP (6881) but it tells me "router ports need to be configured."

I'm a lifetime registered user and the author of the software has not yet responded (even though he advertises a response will be sent to registered users). While I wait, I stumbled on this forum and am asking for help. Has anyone else dealt with port mapping issues?

I really don't want to try DMZ "enabled" and I have tried specifying the ports in port forwarding and port triggering, but this doesn't appear to work.

Am I dealing with one of those crappy versions of the WRT54G v5? (I did update it's FW through the web admin from 1.00.0 to 1.02.0, the latest I could find of official FW updates.)

    Any help is much appreciated.

3rd party firmware, dd-wrt micro...nuff said. The linksys firmware for the wrt54g and wrt54gs v5 + is pants. 3rd party firmware is the best way to fix torrent/p2p issues. Theres loadsa people on this forum and others with the same problem. They upgrade to 3rd party firmware and its fine.

Thanks, but I'm kinda a newbie

modd1uk...thanks for the info; but, I'm a newbie at this router/FW stuff and don't know that I'd find the right 3rd party stuff for my WRT54g v5 model.
