I have WRT54G V5 router (lastest firmware) connecting to a cable modem, it works. The problem is: occasionally my home electricity has a very short disruption, so after the power come back to my home, the router can no get IP via DHCP.
I think the reason it because my cable modem need 30 seconds to boot up, so the router can not get the IP since the modem is not ready. In this case, I have to manually reboot the router again.

I was wondering that if there is a way to let router retry DHCP itself instead of manually reboot ? Thanks in advance.

I have a WRTSL54GS and its behavior when it gets it IP through DHCP is to short allocate a local IP (for a minute I think). After this time, it tries a new DHCP request.

I'm not sure if that behavior comes from the router or my DSL modem. An easy way to check is to go into the status page of your router when it did not get its address and check what the address is and how long is the DHCP lease time.
