When I connect to my router via, I don't see hardly any text on the page. There is a Linksys enblem on the upper left then on the upper right ": v1.00.2".

Where the tabs should be, there is only an "&" which links to

The first real text is a dropdown box which reads Automatic Configuration - DHCP.

    Any ideas?

this is an old problem of v5 routers, please press you reset button for 30 seconds. the router with then reset the nvram settings to their original state.

I would also strongly advise to update the firmware to v1.00.6

    Firmware 1.00.6
    - Resolves issues with WAP54G repeater mode
    - Resolves issues with certain PPPoE connection
    - Resolves issues with SES turning back on when applying settings
    - Resolves issues with WPA allowing Shared key selection
    - Resolves issues with web GUI ping function
    - Resolves issues with using MSN whiteboard
    - Resolves issues with instability when using Bittorent
    - Resolves issues with using certain ATA phone adapters
    - Resolves issues with connecting to NNTP news servers

    Firmware 1.00.4
    - Resolves issues with slow downstream speeds
    - Resolves issues with certain web sites not loading or loading slowly
    - Resolves issues with obtaining an IP address from Windows 2000 Server
    - Resolves issues with certain Internet video streaming
    - Resolves issues with playing PSP games online

click on the linksys downloads on the navigation block on the left.

Alright, great, now I've got a router without any wireless security and still no text. My username/password seems not to work so I'm using admin as the password only.

Ok, I did the reset again and this time, when I connected to, it was asking for firmware upgrade. Gave it the location, waited and finally power cycled it. Now, the version shows ": v1.00.6" but still not much text and no visible tabs. Certainly not usable.

now reset router. pressing reset for 30 seconds.

looks like you presses the router into management mode. make sure power is on when you press the reset. and release with power still on.

can you try if possible to reset the router in the setup pages, and then clear the web browser cache

failing this press reset button for 10 seconds. then power off router. then clear browser cache.

After pressing reset for 30 seconds, I waited for all blinking lights to stop...which didn't happen. when I went to, it read: "Management Mode Firmware Upgrade..."

I backed out of the page this time, and then the lights stopped blinking and looked like it was "normal". Went back to and still almost no text on page.

I don't see anywhere to "reset the router in the setup pages" but "press reset button for 10 seconds. then power off router. then clear browser cache" didn't help either.

I grabbed a laptop and connected it. I do see the tabs and text and buttons???

    Hey Sparky,

Are you using IE v7 (Beta) by any chance? This is a known issue in the rendering engine of IE7 and affects many web pages.

For example, I can see my DD-WRT v23 web pages fine in Netscape v8.1 or IE6 but not with IE7.

    Are you running ZoneAlarm?

Disable ZA, telenet into router, make your changes, save, exit then renable ZoneAlarm

    Viola. :)

RE: If you are using ZoneAlarm - it's the Privacy bit in ZA Pro that doesn't like the setup screen. Disabling just the Privacy bits should work.

I've found that accessing the router via https also works - and that's without switching any security off.
