Ok folks, anyone got the answer to this one? If I use a Netgear router I can establish a VPN tunnel with a remote computer and access its network drives. Now switching to the WRT54G, I can establish the VPN tunnel, but my attempts to connect to the network drive ("add new network place") fails.

Switch back to the Netgear and all works fine.

Go into the router setup -> security -> vpn
    make sure thats all enabled
you also might need to open and forward specific ports to the cpu
    or just try DMZing it....

yeah, everything is turned on. How would I set up DMZ and or port forwarding when its the outgoing router is blocking the file sharing, not the remote router. That end works just fine.
