I have a wrt54g version 4 that was running hyperWRT +thibor release 15c. I was playing withi the qos settings, when my net died out. I quickly discovered that the router had lost its dhcp lease from the cable moden/isp.

power cycling both did not help - the router refuses to get the dhcp lease from the modem/isp.

i then restored the linksys firmware, but the same problem exists - no dhcp lease from the cable modem and as a result no net connection.

i've ruled out a problem with the modem, as my laptop gets a lease from it just fine, and can get online no problem.

also, looking at the basic setup page of the router, all the subheadings that should be there are missing, with the exception of ddns. "automatic configuration" is not an option in the drop down list of connection types. an image of the error is attached

any idea what could be wrong?

    thanks in advance

you aren't using Thibor15c for starters, the version number is wrong. try refreshing your browser, or reflashing it with 15c

you could always try a 30 second reset button press to clear the nvram, that could also help matters.
