This may seem long winded but heres my problem.
I recently had my pc crash running windows 2k and a wmp54g wireless card. I had no problem connecting to my wrt54g v.4 router. That pc crashed. My friend built me a new one. New mb, processor and whatnot but same wireless pci card. He is running a USR8054 router and had no problem connecting to his wireless setup. He brings it to my house, and the pc cannot connect to the wrt54g router. It keeps saying cannot associate with access point. So i throw in a long 25ft patch cord since my pc is only that far away. Plug it in, i connect and go to try out Joint Ops (game), it connects but crashes within 30 seconds...after that it gets less and less. So my friend takes it home...he is able to play the game with a patch cord connection with no crashing and can connect with the wireless card and play as well. So he drops it off and we think maybe the router is bad. I pick up a new wrt54g v5 and same problem. I cannot connect to wireless and i get the same message. My friend brings in his laptop...tries to connect wirelessly and get the message that it couldnt recieve an IP address. I have the router set to no security to eliminate any connection issues. I changed the beacon settings and the threshold settings. No connection. Does anyone have any idea why my linksys pci wireless card cannot connect to my linksys router? Thanks.

    no good

So now im totally baffled, frustrated and annoyed. Outside my house everything seems to work...in my house...well i get nothing. My friend installed the dd-wrt firmware .23 and im getting a 100% signal strenght...but i cant connect. I dont get what could be stopping me from connecting. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

    me too!

I'm trying to get a friends home network set up with some wireless security...he has an hp dv5020us w/ a broadcom 802.11b/g wlan card and is using the WRT54G as a gateway and I cannot get online. The network is seen in winxp/sp2 but I only get page not loaded and dns error messages. I will be trying to get him up and running tommorrow and will be trying the channel fix.

try reinstalling the drivers for the wireless card.
