WRT54G3G - no automatic reconnect?

I'm using WRT54G3G routers with Vodafone Mobile Connect UMTS cards.

The router allows to configure an "auto connect" to bring it online on power-up. The problem is, that if the connection gets lost, the router does not automatically reconnect.

I only have "passive" hosts attached to the router, so I can't use the port triggering to make it come online again, after the connection dropped.

Now I've downloaded the firmware from Linksys and could also successfully compile it. Any ideas, what I could modify in the firmware to have an "auto-reconnect" feature?

AFAIK OpenWRT still doesn't support the UMTS card slot, so I've to stick with Linksys's original firmare?

    Any ideas?
