I bought a linksys compact wireless router. I flashed it as I had a problem with the WPA passphrase. It was accepting 65 characters before the popup came saying a max of 63 characters is permitted. This was confusing me as on the clients, the 65 char passphrase was being accepted and so a mismatch was created.

So I downloaded a firmware update from linksys saying v.1.02.9.
The day after I went checking again on the website and there was only 1.02.8 as the latest firmware. Did anyone else download the .9 version. It works ok but I re-flashed it back to .8 as I thought maybe they found some problems with it and removed it.

The specified limit for WPA and WPA2 is 63-characters. If any client or AP accepts more that is an error. It may be that the box will let you TYPE IN more than 63 but when you revisit the page it will have truncated it to 63.

I recommend using one of those pages that generates a random string for you, then cut and paste from notepad into all devices. Works well for me.
