What features would it add ? If it is only for hte sake of having the newest base, I vote "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", and last time I checked, Tomato ain't broke.

Besides, Linksys may only be fixing things Jon already has.

Except that it is broken, at least for some people. As discussed in this thread some people suffer from "random reboots", the problem seems to be in the wireless drivers, so a newer updated driver from linksys might fix it.

The wl driver is not opensource, as you can see in the linksys source package, so I doubt Jon could fix the problem by himself (which would require extensive reverse engineering).

I expect there's going to be some interesting changes in the next version of Tomato. I don't recall this big a time gap between releases.. It's been exactly four months today as of this writing (May 20-Sept-20) since Tomato 1.07 graced our WRT/WHR's. Either Jon must have some interesting changes up his sleeve, or he's been busy with other matters. Regardless, I'm sure he'd make sure that Tomato was using the very latest sources.

    We surely hope so,
But lets wait for the official respond from Jon for the manner.
For the time being my tomato router is working wonderfully and i can wait for an updated version for it as i think this is the last firmware update for the wrt54gl so Jon has all the time in the world to make it.
I only hope he is going to :)

The timestamps on the "wl" driver in the 4.30.11 and 4.30.9 sources from Linksys are the same (03 August 2006). Building Tomato from these new sources won't help (since the Tomato source replaces the stock wl driver from somewhere else).

ntemis: Where did you hear that this is the last release of GL code from Linksys?

I know that in Kamikaze 7.09 Broadcom wireless is finally working stable but the driver isn't final, YET.

brcm47xx-2.6 of course they had something that was working but the module wasn't stable enough for production use that is why they kept maintaining brcm-2.4
it's working now but not yet announced...
