Hi everyone. Thanks in advance to all those who take the time to answer.

I recently purchased one of these WRT54GL and have been very disappointed thus far. I am currrently 10 yards away from the router and keep losing my wireless connection. I have tried the hyperwrt thibor 15c and am currently using ddwrt and have not found a solution to the problem. I upped the xmit power and still see no improvement. I am fairly new to networking and routers and desperately in need of an expert to teach me how to tweak my router so that I can have a stable wireless connection or find a new router. Using the ddwrt I see that it on average says I have a signal quality of about 35 percent. This is so pitiful. Please help me guys and gals!

I am using a intel pro wireless 2915ABG Net. I havent ever changed the drivers of it, been using stock since day one. I guess I should see if there are any driver updates.

Wow thanks toxic. I upgraded my drivers for my wifi adapter and I no longer drop connection. Unfortunately ddwrt still shows me at 35% signal strength, which I dont necessarily know what it means. But for now I am much happier. Thanks again.

I just came back from trying to get a wrt54gl to keep connection with a wusb54g wireless usb adapter. Big thing here was the channel change seemed to help most. 11 was erratic, 6 locked me out, had to reset router, and 1 proved to be the charm (so far). I wanted to flash it with thibor's but the serial prefix didn't match up.

it will still work, the page was written before the 1.1 was released and i haven't updated the serial prefix for the GL.

Neither do I mean how to interpret it exactly, but my opinion on the whole signal-stuff on DD-WRT is that it was somehow very disstracting... while my wireless connection was pretty much okay all the time. I'm using an Apple Mac OS X-widget named "AirTrafficControl" to monitor - sort of.

I've dropped DD-WRT in favour of HyperWRT Thibor 15c (on a CL7B), which doesn't need to reboot itself 3 times after a change has been made to the settings!

Now if I could only measure the real speed on the switch-ports :) I've never had a slower LAN-to-LAN before...
