WRT54GL Relay/Antenna Questions

  1. Hi

So I am here at this deployed location, and they have barely mediocre internet provided by this third party business, but none the less it is internet. Anyway, we live in this completely metal building, and so the signal from the relay right outside our building does not make it in. I am looking at using the WRT54GL as a relay for this signal. I want to get the 9dBi antennas and the 10' cables. Have the WRT54GL inside as there is just to much sand to have it outside, run one of the antennas to the outside and keep the other inside, would this work? Or are both antennas on the machine transmitters and not recievers?

There are 4 of us in there that would be running off this thing, and I am trying to do this as cheaply as possible as if we went the route of having the millitary pay for it, we wouldn't see anything for months.

I have also read that I need another router to act as an access point? Is this true?

The service is an unsecure netwrok that asks you to log on when you open up the internet browser. I dont know if that makes a difference but I figured just in case.

    Thanks for your help
