I put my computer in the DMZ and turned off all the security options, and the router still discards the magic packet. What am I missing?

    (Wake-on-Lan works locally just fine.)

DMZ forwards all the incoming traffic to a specific local IP address. When your PC is turned off, it doesn't maintain its IP (Layer 3) connection to the router but merley the MAC connection (Layer 2) and so the router doesn't know which PC to forward the magic packet to...

Remote WoWLAN (Wake on Wireless LAN) will only work with a router that has the option to add a static entry in the address resolution table to map an IP address to a specific MAC address.
