Hello, I'm wanting to use my 54gl as a wireless bridge. I'm running tofu v13c. i can get the bridge to work, but it is very unstable. sometimes dropping a connection after 1min. I have a feeling that it has something to do with IP, DHCP problems. should I disable the DHCP server function?

Other topic: I would like to make my connection as secure as possible, but I am connecting to a unsecure network(stealing internet). I'm assuming I can't put any mac filtering or WEP on my side can I? Even if I can stop people from connecting to my router that would be good, but without interrupting the bridge function.

thanks for helping out a newbie

any other recommendations with reference to wireless bridging that I should know?

You want to STEAL a connection and then make YOUR side secure?!

ANYTHING you send on that stolen connection is up for grabs by anyone else running it/stealing it...

in any case, yes thats correct, all security options are controlled by the access point end of a wireless connection so theres nothing you can do to that. and even if there was security on the wireless part, it all gets decrypted and is available for sniffing on the ethernet side of the router byt your (un)appreciative host.
I have the same type of setup, and also had lots of problems with dropouts until i put on a corner reflector from freeantennas.com
chances are its a problem with signal strength and noise more than dhcp or something else.
