    I got a WRT54GL today and I have flash in the tomato 1.27 using WRT54G_WRT54GL.bin

    I am sure I've done the correct steps because I followed the exactly steps here about how to upgrade tomato firmware but this video using DD Wrt as example.
    YouTube - Setup a Hotspot with LinkSys WRT54GL (Part 1:Install DD-WRT)
    Later on, the page shows something like "update successful" and bring me to tomato page index page. Then , I did a 30-30-30 sec reset.

    I thought I can get online by right now but I cant. I logged in the tomato index page and here is the printscreen of the setting . It's showing the router cant get an IP address?
    All of these are original setting as I dont know what to configure. Any more setting I should configure ?

    Just for your information. I have a Aztech ADSL2+ Ethernet USB Router Modem which I'm using to connect to internet. Recently my bro got a new pc so I bought this WRT54GL to enables us to go online together using LAN , and provide wifi for my new Iphone.
    My operating system : windows 7
    My ISP giving me a broadband internet service with dynamic IP.
    I have set my local area connection with this configuration
    "obtain an IP automatically" and "obtain DNS automatically "

    please help me , it's killing me.

    I'm not familiarise with Aztech, but how can you use a usb modem with a cable router?

    haha , this is a cheap router which I picked up few years ago, it isnt famous at all . There are 2 options which are USB and Ethernet you can choose.

    if I want to connect to internet
    situation 1
    Aztech router ( Ethernet) -----> Desktop (Ethernet)

    situation 2
    Aztech router ( USB ) -----> Desktop (USB)

    situation 3 (2 pc connect to internet at the same time)
    Aztech router ( Ethernet) -----> Desktop1 (Ethernet)
    ( USB ) -----> Desktop2 (USB)

    right now with WRt54GL
    Aztech router ( Ethernet) -----> WRT54GL(Ethernet) -----> Desktop1 (Ethernet port1)
    -----> Desktop2 (Ethernet port2)

    If you have PPPoE you must put the modem into 'full bridge' mode before you can use PPPoE on the router, but you will not then be able to use USB. This is the preferred method if you have PPPoE, you let the router do all the routing

    If you leave the PPP endpoint on the modem the connection to the router will be dhcp, and you will be running 'double nat' through the router.

    Before you do this also make sure the lan Ip range is different on the modem and router, ie. modem, router (they will probably both default to

    1. Decide what ips you want on the lan, 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x

    2. Assuming (i.e. I use this) you want 192.168.0.x for the lan set the modem to bridged with the ip, set the router to

    3. Add this script to Admin>scripts>firewall (so you can log into the modem from the lan) then reboot:

    ip addr add dev vlan1 brd +
    iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d -j MASQUERADE

    4. Enter you ips details, static/PPPoE are probably the most common.

    I did some setting randomly and now it works like charm .

    I disabled the WAN/internet .
    Set the Ip address of WRT54GL to , my main router is
    Then connect the LAN cable from main router(Aztech) to Ethernet port1 (there are 4 Ethernet ports in WRT54GL) instead of 'Internet Port' . After that connect 2 desktop to Ethernet port 2 and Ethernet port 3 .

    It is working pretty fine , Should I keep this setting ?
