WRT54GS acting as local DNS server?

    Hi everyone,

(Newbie alert) I've searched for something related but to no avail.

Anyway, the WRT54GS is my third wireless router in rapid succession - the others failed in various ways and were returned to the store. But they both had a feature that I cannot find in the Linksys box.

The Linksys box gives out IP addresses to hosts on my local network. I want to be able to contact those hosts by name, but I cannot find any way to make the Linksys box act as a DNS server for the local machines.

Am I just missing something and being stupid, or is this not the way that the Linksys box does things? And if the latter, do any of the other firmware packages do this?

    Many thanks,
