    Hi everybody,

Not sure this is the best forum to post this topic but certainly the best to find skilled people to discuss with !

I have acquired a print server WPS54G. Everything works well except that it is limited to 6mb/s.
The router transmission rate is set to auto and putting it on 54mb/s doesn't help. The print server configuration page doesn't show any option for transmission rate.

I don't dare to shift the print server to a new fw version (6049 available) as some people have reported problems doing this.

Could anyone help me to solve this ?

Is frame burst enabled on the WRT54GS in the Wireless Advanced section? if not try that.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, no luck because already enabled.

    Any other idea ?

how many devices do you have connected via wireless? is there any interference between wireless devices and the wireless printer server?

    - 3 wired PCs
    - 1 wireless print server (WPS54G)
    - 1 wireless laptop

No differences observed with or w/o the laptop.

I've tried to reduce the router to 1 mb/s (and rebooted both router & print server) and I found out that the print server still says that it is running at 6 mb/s. I therefore if there is a bug in the fw of the print server for the value it does indicate.

I am running 6049 on my WPS54G, the BiAdmin Utility is showing 6mbs, while the Web client is showing 36mbs, when nothing is being sent. There was a reported ptoblems wtih firmware version 6045. My WPS54GU2 shows 54mbs on the BiAdmin Utility and the Web client. I guess there is an issue with the WPS54G and the BiAdmin Utility.

    printserver problem...

Are there any other 2.4gig non wifi devices(phones) in the house...

I had a problem with a wireless video transmitter in the house that complete knocked out my wifi... but I figured it out and discontinued use right away as it was just as easy to plug video directly with a longer cable... any way a cordless phone won't neccassirly knock it out, but it could make it slow.

the orhter question is does the printserver receive printjobs? does the printer print? it is possible the speed is reported incorrectley, but it is working fine... (food for thought)

Sorry to answer late. I was out of town for a few days.

It is exactly the point : Everything works fine but it always reports a speed of 6 mb/s. I now believe that it is probably only a reporting error. The only thing is that it takes about 1 to 2 seconds to see anything starting to print when I sent something to the printer.

I thing I will only ... not thing to this anymore !

    Thanks to all
