So, not only have I had this problem with this model, but also a WRT54G...a total of 3 linksys routers. Here's the deal...I buy a new linksys and set it up (I have a straight ethernet connection from my apartment). It works fine for a month or two. Then, it mysteriously starts losing connection. Not just losing internet connection, but I can't even access the router's setup page unless I unplug and re-plug it in. I originally thought this was a power issue, so I bought a UPS. Didn't solve the problem. Of course, the Indians at linksys support told me to upgrade to the latest firmware. Whatever, it still does it. I am sick of wasting money on this crap. What is the freaking deal? So many other people have this same issue. Surely I couldn't have gotten 3 bad routers in a row right??
i had somehow a similar problem. I was using dc++ and emule and i was loosing the "browsing". I have installed ddwrt and it was happening the same. in ddwrt the default maximum numberr of tcp connection was set to 512. i increase it to 1024 then to 4096 and finaly it worked. why? because of those P2P programs the total number of TCP connections is around 2400..... no wonder that with 512 i could not browse anymore. hope it helps.
