I want to upgrade to Alchemy 1.0. Will this break my router? Should I upgrade to the most recent version of Linksys offical firmware first?

Any help is appreciated. I want to avoid breaking my router.

    Thanks in advance,

It won't break your router. Upgrading from what you have should be fine. I have put alchemy on 4 WRT54GS v1.1s and they have all been fine. They have worked with Alchemy RC5, RC6, 1.0, DDWRTv22, and Talisman 1.0, 1.0.4, 1.0.5. I think I might have had hyper WRT on one too. Just upgrade over the wired network not wireless. And before you do, download tftp from the downloads section.

Thank you for your reply. I'm glad to hear it won't break my router.

Can you share with me what procedure you used to do this successfully?

Should I upgrade to the latest Linksys firmware first or just upgrade straight to Alchemy 1.0 from what I have now? Do I use the TFTP program to upload the .bin file? I scanned my router, it doesn't appear that TFTP port 69 is opened right now, so I don't think that's going to work. Or do you use the web interface to browse to the file?

    Thanks again for your time,
