After upgrading to generic Linksys v4.50.6 firmware on my WRT54GS dropdown menus on configuration pages have "Capture(x.x)" prepended to the normal menu text. For example, on the main Setup->Basic Setup page the first menu looks like this:

    Capture(setupcontent.dhcp)Automatic Configuration - DHCP

    MTU displays:

    TimeZone displays:

    Capture(timezone.Hawaii)(GMT-10:00) Hawaii

I've tried resetting the router, downgrading to the previous firmware, resetting again, upgrading again, resetting again. Same "debug-style" menus. :(

    Sysinfo output looks like:

    Firmware Version:v4.50.6 , Apr 24 2005 #:000
    Boot Version:v3.1
    RF Status:enabled
    RF Firmware Version:v4.50.6
    RF Domain:US (channel 1~11)
    RF Channel:11
    RF SSID:xxxxxxxxxxx
    -----Dynamic Information
    RF Mac Address:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
    LAN Mac Address:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
    WAN Mac Address:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
    Hardware Version:2.0
    Device Serial No.:
Everything else looks and works fine but I'd like to get normal menus back. Anyone seen this and/or have suggestions how to fix it? Thanks!

Greetings, ukko. Thanks for confirming that this isn't just a problem with my router/firmware. And it's not fixed in v4.70.6, which I installed yesterday. Hopefully someone here will have a solution but it isn't looking promising from the lack of responses so far. I'm downloading the GPL source right now (s l o w download) to see if I can figure out what's causing the trouble even if I don't have enough skill to fix it. I'll post my findings later if I can discover anything helpful.

    Same Problem Here

I am experiencing EXACTLY the same problem here. A little annoying if you ask me. At least the router is fully functional, but would love to get rid of that annoying CAPTURE deal.

    What browser are you using?

I don't see this problem with the 4.70.6 firmware using Firefox 1.0.6 on Mac OS X.

Hmm, I just checked. When using Opera 8.0 it shows the debug menus but at least with IE they show up correctly.

I've recreated the menu glitch with these browsers:

    Safari 2.0 (on 10.4.2)
    Safari 1.3 (on 10.3.9)
    OmniWeb 5.1.1 (on 10.4.2)

The menus look fine in Camino. I didn't check with Firefox since it's already been reported to work okay.

The difference seems to be how Javascript is interpreting the Capture function but that's just a guess.

    using safari

Safari version 2.0.1. Do you have an idea of what is going on ? It was working fine (with Safari) before the upgrade.

Yeah, I've been having the same problem. I never encountered that with my other Linksys router, but I guess that's cause it's older. Now, it shows that capture() stuff on Opera 8.5, but works on Firefox. Baahh! How close-minded of Linksys.
