Don't laugh guys , but I've saddled myself with a WRT54GS v5.1 and the serial number starts with CGN8. Firmware installed is 1.50.5. Are thre any information on this and if there are any differences between that and v5.0?

Until someone has managed to find the information you are looking for, I suggest you return this product back to the vendor (hopefully it is local and near to your house). This way, you don't have to worry about guess works.

    I've bought a WRT54GS today...

    v5.1 (CGN8) :noway:

hoping that i was lucky i opened up the damn thing :p

These are the chips I found:

MIRA P2V28S40BTP (instead of the Hynix)
MX 29LV160CTTC-70G (instead of the intel)

All i could found about the memory was that the RAM is 16MB and the Flash Memory 2 MB...

so no luck for me

    can anyone confirm this?

seems like they are using cheaper chips?
