I am new to all of this, but from my limited research. In order to connect my Airport Express (AE) to my router, I need to use a particular opensource firmware. The trouble is, that the v5 router that I have has, as someone put it, been "neutered" and no longer allows opensource firmware.

If anyone could confirm that my understanding is correct, I would appreciate it.

If anyone has a solution to my problem, I would kiss you feet.

Do you mean that I should just use the airport as my router?

    Not sure I understand?

Sorry, I mistook the Airport Express (AP) as the Airport Extreme (client). The Airport Express can connect to a cable or DSL modem to access the Internet and so it is possible to use it alone on your network.

By the way, the train to my local airport is also called Airport Express
