Hi guys I have just bought 2 wrt54gs routers which I intend use to bridge 2 wired lans approx 1km apart, I already have a pair of wap54g's which are going to be replaced with the wrt's. The wrt's are both V2.00 hardware and V2.09.1 original firmware. My question is which hacked firmware is the best to use. I ideally would like variable power output, antenna selection, and signal strength display if possible. Anyone with any sugestions. I did try flashing my wap54's but fried quite a few and gave up, don't want to make the same mistake again.

sveasoft's satori is probably the easiert to use (others require modules and stuff)
it allows for antenna selection and power output to 84Mw from 0 in encrements of 1.

i wouldnt recommend higher than 56mw due to premature smoking of the chipset.

add a fan also which is easy.

satori is available here under the downloads section

alchemy (if ever released to pub) allows power output to be increased up to 900% of factory or 251 mw.

and a whole bunch better bridge support.

    good luck.
