WRT56GL GW---->WRT56GL AP - Wireless client limits?

    I just got through setting up (2) WRT54gl Routers
    in a small Church. I started off by using Wireless Repeater mode
    because of the difficulty involved in running a Cat5 line
    from Router to Router. This worked ok (after turning up the Xmit power)
    but I was really disatisfied in losing 50% of the Bandwidth.

    So, I decided to run the Cat Cable afterall from the Gateway router to the
    AP router. I have wireless turned off at the GW router (it is not needed there)
    and the other Router in AP mode. I have a great, full speed connection
    for the Wireless connection now (Only tested with one Wireless client so far)

    But, my question was, am I limited to the number of Wireless clients that can connect to the AP? Seems like I read in this configuration, I could only have 1 Wireless client connected to this AP. Is this the case, or not?

    I would try a Kamikaze based repeater which can have better results performance wise
    if you don't have the possibility of running a CAT5 cable between the routers

    Hi Philtrim,

    If the WRT54GL is configured as an AP, regardless of if it is connected to another WRT54GL configured only as an internet gateway router, with a cable, the limit of wireless clients that can associate with the AP will be about 50, although network performance for all clients on the wireless will degredate long before you reach that number.

    Clients should be getting their DHCP address from the main router, not the AP.
