I've configured my wrt610n with a harddisk and enabled the mediaserver option. Everthing is working fine like it should, but .... the mediaserver part is not always available.
Often I need to login, in the linksys to make the mediaserver part available again or I need to restart the whole linksys.

Could it be the harddisk (It is a WD Passport without an external adapter)? Maybe the harddisk goes to sleep or is it the linksys software that needs to reinitialize?

Anyone else having the same problems?

    why dont you

i don't have a 610n. but i suspect that the problem is you are using a non-power ext drive. why don't you borrow a powered drive and see? they ain't that expensive.

Yeah, I now. can't make up my mind to buy only a ex-harddrive or a complete nas. But thanks!
