WRTSL54GS crashing on usb drive connection

I've got a 300G western digital usb 2.0 drive, formatted fat32 at this point.

The router running Thibor 15a keeps crashing when I click on the 'storage' tab in the web interface, so I've been unable to get the drive connected up and shared.

I've tried combinations for connecting with both devices off, power up usb, then power up router...same result. I've tried plugging in a powered up drive to a powered up gateway...same, I've tried plugging in a dead drive into a powered up router, then powering up the drive...same thing.

What is the filesystem supposed to be on the drive? I can make it whatever, just that it has a mess of mp3's on it already and I figured fat32 would be supported.

I'm mostly a linux guy so ext3 or others are simple enough to setup.

Is this crashing from the fat32? Or am I just the lucky one ;-)

Thibor, thanks for the effort, really nice job.

I've hooked up a number of drives with FAT32 on them and no problems. Of course this was with earlier versions of Thibor have not tried specifically 15a.

The firmware will support ReiserFS and I think he added EXT3 recently. The GUI may not be all there as far as supporting it, but if you are a Linux guy just ssh in and use the command line to mount it, etc. I prefer EXT3 myself since there's the EXT2IFS driver for Windows haven't seen good Reiser Wintel drivers out there. Nice to have a portable format.

Any syslog output during this crash event?

reiserFS, ext3 and ntfs are all supported by the gui, although ntfs is not very good. i don't have any explanation as to why your web interface is crashing though, it's perfectly fine here and i've not heard of any other problems from anyone else with it

I haven't been able to log in due to the ssh bug, I put my key on the box via the web interface, enabled ssh, but when I try to log in, it bounces me out for a bad password. The admin:pass works for the web interface just fine though.

Just to be sure the user for ssh would be 'admin' as well right and the same pass?

I'll try the telnet and see if I can get in with that for now and fix the directory issue with ssh while I'm at it.

The drive itself is good too, works with the XBox360 and mounts right up with my linux box too so I'm not sure what the issue is.

The ssh problem was me, because I'm a moron and missed that 'root' is the default user....

    I figured it out.

I have https only enabled, the asp pages don't like that and puke for some reason. Why exactly, I don't know but all goes away if I just use plain http for the GUI.

i know why, it's coz the http daemon is absolutely s*ite

I was able to setup the network storage fine, and it works fine across MAC OSX and WinBlowz, but after a few hours if I go back into the web based GUI and press "storage" I get this error.

    var wipe_disks_array = new Array(); var erase_type = "no"; function available_disks() { return []; } function available_disk_sizes() { return []; } function claimed_disks() { return []; } function claimed_disk_interface_names() { return []; } function claimed_disk_model_info() { return []; } function claimed_disk_serial_numbers() { return []; } function claimed_disk_total_size() { return []; } function claimed_disk_health() { return []; } function blank_disks() { return []; } function blank_disk_interface_names() { return []; } function blank_disk_model_info() { return []; } function blank_disk_serial_numbers() { return []; } function blank_disk_total_size() { return []; } function blank_disk_health() { return []; } function foreign_disks() { return ["
Ugly...I agree. I can still get to the network drive share through all the computers. Rebooting the router usually makes this fix itself. I thought it had to do with me going from OpenWRT to the HyperWRT-Thibor without clearing the NVRAM so I cleared it, re-set everything up from scratch, and the errors is still there after a day of running.

Its more of a annoyance right now then anything.

A google search led me to this forum with that error msg in it, but once I signed up I can't find the right thread. It looks like its a old one stored in the Google cache.
