I was naive, and upgraded the firmware on two of my wrv200 routers. They are now at 1.0.39. I thought it was the right thing to do. However, I then came across this forum, and have read that I should have first reset to factory defaults, upgraded the firmware, and then reset back to defaults again.

If I had reset to factory defaults, that will wipe out the changes rights?

Also, if I have screwed up by just uploaded the file, can I hold the reset button on the router for 30 secs, and then upload the latest firmware?

The factory default routine does not revert to the factory firmware. All it does is loading the default settings.
