Just found 2.39.2 firmware on the linksys china site . Its dated 02/08/06 . This firmware is in english & i have flashed my wrv with it without issue .

    Still no WPA-AES .

I think this is beta firmware .

I would be weary of downloading firmware that is meant for China. They have strict internet censorship laws that may be built into the firmware. You could always revert if they do.

If you want WPA, WPA2, and AES, you'll probably have to check out the WRV200:

Peops, the WRV54G has become a lost cause, but I'm still going to tinker with it, personally...

I already have my WRV200 on backorder because I'm interested in the VLAN capability. It is doubtful that it will do NAT-T and GRE because quickvpn is still part of the mix. Now, Linksys is offereing "10" free quickvpn clients instead of "5" which means there probably won't be any NAT-T and GRE...

Is that in the US or UK?

It's in the US right now but the place I got mine from takes international orders:

I've got to call back and see if they'll be able to furnish a 110-220 power supply. If not, I'll just use the one that I bought for my wrv54g.

They are available with 2.10 , 2.21 & 2.25 versions , if you dont mind the no username/password exploit . :cheering:

For some stupid reason i keep thinking they will return it in a future firmware upgrade but see now thats not going to happen .

I dont doubt that feature will be available on the initial firmware release for the wrv200 but more than likely the same thing will happen . Unless they found a new company to code their firmware .

Just updated my WRV54G with this firmware and it seems to have fixed the issue I had with 2.39.0 connecting to BEFVP41's. It connected to another WRV54G and a WAG54G no problems, just not the BEFVP41. With 2.39.2 it connects to everything :)

Still can't enable daylight saving though, so the times always an hour out :noway:

Really? With 2.37.13, I've been able to connect to just about any other vpn endpoint router out there. After the "bricking" I had with 2.38.6, I haven't budged from the current firmware I use on my WRV...

It wasn't an issue with older firmwares either, but seems to be a bug introduced with 2.39.0 ;)

    Okay, that is it!!!

I'm through fooling with the WRV54G! They've had three years to get it right and it appears linksys is not even trying to quality check anything they release for this router now.

Catch me in the WRV200 forum next month... :)

But the WRV54G is still for sale (still a current product) so Linksys should be offering 100% support for it and offering upgrades.

I'm going to write to Linksys HQ and instruct them to replace these dodgy WRV54G's I recently purchased for WRV200's.........................
I'll let you know how I get along!

Have you attempted to tftp firmware to the wrv? Few times i thought i bricked my wrv as well .

What got mine working again is to hold the reset button while powering the router up & continuing to hold for a few seconds . Even after the hard reset it didnt want to bring up the login page till i let it sit for a few minutes before attempting to login .

Many times when using the beta firmware the upgrade progress in the lower left corner of the screen dont display & you need to watch the routers lights & wait for it to reboot after the flash before trying to login .

Is it still within the warrantee period ? Maybe you can convince linksys to excahnge your bricked wrv for a wrv200 . :)

I don't think any of the manufacturers do much testing these days  As margins are so tight they obviously look to reduce costs and that's one area that gets targeted. Cheaper isn't always better
