WRV54G - Can ping some, can't ping others

I've got a WRV54G with a static IP on the WAN side, and serving DHCP on the LAN side. I am able to connect over VPN from outside the router, and can ping a laptop that has a dynamic IP, but can't ping a file share server (AirNAS) that's got a static IP. Am I missing something? Using 2.39.2 on the WRV54G, and QuickVPN 1.2.2. Thanks!

Does the AirNAS have the correct gateway address configured i.e. the IP address of the WRV54G?

Also are you allowing incomming ping traffic on that machine, i.e firewall, access restriction etc?

Yes, the gateway is set correctly. I assume that the client is set correctly (firewall disabled), because I can ping a Windows box on the VPN network, just not this one unit. And I can ping this one unit within the network from that Windows box. It's strange...

Can anyone explain this? I had it setup with a static IP, and the WRV54g wouldn't pass it over the VPN, but I set it up on DHCP, and it worked just fine. Since this thing doesn't support static DHCP assignments, is there anything I can do save forcing the lease never to expire to keep it on it's current IP?
