Hello everyone and happy New Year.

Well my new year is not too happy so far as I can't get my WUSB11 to connect to my WRT54G. I know the wireless setup is working fine as from the same laptop that I connected the WUSB11 to has an internal intell-b nic and it connects fine. The laptop has loaded the drivers for the WUSB11 and it starts fine but after scanning for networks and choosing connect it returns an error about unable to connect/check your security settings. I have tried using the linksys software and setting a profile through it with no luck (btw anyone know how to get the software to change the channel it scans on as it sets it to 6 by default?!?!)

Any suggestions or links to suggested reading would be greatly appreciated.

So the Linksys wireless manager detects the router OK? The channel should be dictated by the router in infrastructure mode. The channel selection on the client is usually for Ad-hoc mode connection (connecting to other wireless clients sans router/AP).

Have you disabled the internal wireless adapter?
What wireless security have you deployed on your router? If you are using MAC Address Filtering, make sure your WUSB11's MAC Address has been entered into the filter table in the router.

I have solved the issue! It appears that the laptop either doesn't like having multiple wireless nics installed or "something" my employer has put in policy/security wise is not letting me alter certain connection options. I've taken the NIC and put it on my wife's pc and it's working just nicely. :) Now I don't have to worry about wiring my new house!

    Thanks again! :)
